LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Dear Readers,

Since our full rebrand last year, Flagship has been in a state of constant redesign and refocus. Working on this edition, from our Travel Around the Mags campaign to hectic staff meetings during multiple snowstorms, has been a long and arduous journey for our team. But this odyssey could not have been possible without our contributors to this year’s edition, which is available in both print and digital formats for the first time since 2024.

In this year’s edition, we are incredibly proud to publish photography, poetry, visual art, and prose that embody Flagship’s mission to reflect on how travel affects personal growth and cultural understanding. With submissions from eighteen countries and nine universities, this is our broadest edition yet. As we continue to publish writers, artists, and creatives from Susquehanna University and beyond, our edition this year is a timely reminder on how travel and cross-cultural interactions can and continue to impact our lives and lived experiences. This edition examines newfound beginnings and road trips, homesickness and lost identities, small towns and tight-knit neighbors, and how when we choose to take flight beyond the familiar, we can find human connection in the unlikeliest places.

I would like to extend my thanks to this amazing team, our advisor Dr. Laurence Roth, and the Creative Writing and Publishing and Editing departments at Susquehanna University, which continue to support our goals as not only a place-based and travel experience magazine, but as a physical flagship to represent the journeys and experiences of domestic and international exploration.

As always, keep traveling.

Caroline
